Is mesotherapy, a targeted injection treatment, the cure for aging, cellulite and accumulated fat cells? Many believe that it is, but mesotherapy is not yet widely known in the United States and is continually under scrutiny.
Why is that? Generally it is because it is a non-invasive, non-surgical approach to reducing cellulite, boosting weight loss and reducing the effects of aging on the skin. If a few simple injections could eliminate the need for many cosmetic surgical procedures that may present a problem for some areas of the medical industry, and so mesotherapy is generally under a lot of criticism.
Some basic facts about the standard mesotherapy procedure might help to eliminate some of the more common misperceptions. The practice of mesotherapy procedures has been in existence since the 1950s. It has a long track record for successful treatment of several common bodily issues. It has been proven an effective measure against cellulite, aging, fat deposits and has been seen to improve weight loss.
Are there any mesotherapy side effects? The most common issue that occurs with mesotherapy patients is bruising and discomfort at the injection sites. The mesotherapy process uses homeopathic medicines in combination with vitamins, minerals and amino acids which are injected into the middle layer of the skin, otherwise known as the mesoderm. There the medicines get to work doing what they are intended to do. This deep injection however can create bruising and tenderness in some patients, and this usually presents no problems. If however, the redness and swelling persist, it could be sign of an infection which should be addressed in a timely fashion.
Of course like any other therapy or medical treatment, mesotherapy has risks associated with its use, but the swelling and tenderness are far less worrying than the risks of the surgical equivalents. Take into account that no deaths or serious health risks have been associated with the mesotherapy procedure, and then consider how many strokes, heart attacks and staph infections are the results of liposuction treatments, which are the surgical equivalent of mesotherapy.
Clearly any mesotherapy risks are far outweighed by the benefits of the procedure. Of course the need for zero recovery time can be added to the list of advantages where mesotherapy is concerned. Most patients can have the treatment done in their doctor's office and simply relax for the rest of the day, and then they are fully recovered!
Does mesotherapy hurt? Any injection is going to cause the traditional "sting" or "pinch" but anyone who is greatly concerned by this can have a topical anesthetic applied to the targeted injection areas.
Of course like many cosmetic treatments, mesotherapy benefits from follow up practices and programs. Many mesotherapy patients have found that adding daily exercise and weekly massage treatments that target the areas where the mesotherapy procedure were performed created remarkable results. Any mesotherapy risks or side effects can clearly be downplayed against the benefits of a non-invasive and relatively simple and effective procedure.
