Shrubs

These tropical Shrubs mostly come along in all shades of green, but a few can get brilliant red leaves. It depends if the grow in the shadow or if the sunlight forces this red appearance. The Cordyline Fruticosa, also well known as the Cabbage Tree, can grow 2 - 3 meters high and comes far Southeast Asia and Polynesian Islands. It is seen in many houses here in Bali and is a easy-care decoration plant. Very interesting is the flower of the Philodendron Bipinnatifidum, a shrub that can grow high as a tree. Its finger-like leaves can be very variable in their form and outline. The Ruselia Equisettiformis can become a huge shrub with little, elegant, red flowers. Most tropical plants belonging to the family of Calatea, Cordiaeum or Caladium are famous for various drawings on their leaves. The come in all kinds from white on green to green on white. My favourite of these is Elephant Ear.
