Water Plants

What would my island Bali be without all those beautiful Water Plants like Water Lilies, Water Hyacinths and especially the Lotus. Some Water Lilies are night-blooming. Flowers and foliage of Water Lilies are floating on the water surface. It is very helpful, if you remove the faded foliage and replant these water plants all 3 - 4 years. Check for insects and little worms, that like to start sitting in the center of a leaf. It is always a great pleasure to see these elegant flowers that are held above the water surface. Beside these the Water Lettuce and the Water Hyacinths are found very often on lakes in Bali, too. The Water Hyacinth can become nearly half a meter high and is growing quite fast. The Flowers appear in light violet at upright terminal spikes. The leaves are arranged in rosettes and are used as materials for woven bags and similar ecological products.
